‘Absolutely certain’… Celtic told to tie up ‘great finisher’ to a new contract or risk losing him

Celtic have two players that will be out of contract at the end of the season and both are free to talk to other clubs in January.

Joe Hart and David Turnbull are now almost entering the final six months of their current deals and both have been fairly relaxed about extending them.

However, Celtic have been told that there are teams in England that would be willing to sign up Turnbull if they allow his deal to expire and that they should look to hold onto him as he does have something to offer Brendan Rodgers’ side.

That’s according to pundit, Tam McManus anyway.

McManus said [PLZ Soccer], “I think he’s out of contract. I don’t think Celtic have offered him one as of yet. I could be wrong. But I think he’s got plenty to offer. I think he’s someone who can strike from the edge of the box.

“I’m absolutely certain that if he does leave Celtic on a free there are teams in England that will take him.

“Because he’s good for double figures every season, David Turnbull. Terrific technique and a great finisher.

“I think he’s someone that Celtic should look to keep a hold of, to be honest. I think he’s something different from what they’ve got.

“But I don’t know if Brendan Rodgers is entirely having him at the minute because he’s been in and out of the team.

“But if he can stay in the team now and keep scoring goals, then he might just get a new deal at Celtic.”

TBR Celtic told yesterday how Turnbull has been urged to leave Celtic to save his international career. Barry Ferguson believes that his Scotland career will continue to stall if he was to remain at Parkhead.

My view is simple on this. If Turnbull really believes that he has what it takes to dislodge either Matt O’Riley and Reo Hatate at Celtic then he should sign a deal and prove it to the fans.

Otherwise, it’s time to move on and carve a career at another club that is likely to play him week in, week out.

The Scotland midfielder has the talent to do just that. Whether it’s in England or abroad, if he does decide to leave the Hoops, TBR Celtic will watch his career closely.
